Dewey Readathon: It Begins!

Hey gamers and readers! It’s Erin here, early on this Saturday morning.

In just a few short minutes, Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon will begin. I have a pile of books, I picked up some snacks at the store, and I’m in my reading chair with my blanket and a cup of coffee. I am so ready. BUT. Before the readathon officially begins, I wanted to share my TBR (to be read) pile and my goals for the next 24 hours.

TBR Pile
I went to the library and I’ve gathered a number of books to chose from during the readathon. I know I won’t get to all of them, but I wanted to have lots of options to pick from. Here is my TBR pile for the day:

  1. The Girl Giant by Kristen den Hartog
  2. Disgruntled by Asali Solomon
  3. The Lady Matador’s Hotel by Cristina García
  4. The Life and Death of Sophie Stark by Anna North
  5. The Lullaby of Polish Girls by Dagmara Dominczyk
  6. St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves by Karen Russell (short stories)
  7. Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik
  8. Trillium by Jeff Lemire (graphic novel)

I am planning on starting with Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik – I’ve been meaning to read it forever and it’s a good short book (200 pages) that I know I can finish in a fairly short amount of time. After I finish each book, I will rate them on Goodreads and post a quick update here with my thoughts.

Reading Goals
I have a time goal and a book goal: my time goal is to read at least 12 total hours, and my book goal is to read at least three books. I definitely think my book goal is attainable – I am a fast reader, especially when I am focused and comfy. And I think I can hit 12 hours, especially with the assistance of cold weather and warm coffee.

So there’s where I stand as I begin the readathon! I will try and post updates here every few hours, but you’ll find much more frequent updates and musings over at Twitter (@EMurch). You can also find me over at Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/emurch). And now, happy reading!
